SAT-NET 2024

From October 25th to 27th, the first International Conference on Satellite Internet (IEEE SAT-NET) was successfully held in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province. The conference was hosted by Xidian University and organized by the Satellite Internet Research Institute of the Xidian Hangzhou Research Institute.

This conference brought together experts, scholars, industry leaders, and corporate representatives from around the world to jointly discuss the latest advancements, industrial applications, and future development of satellite internet technologies. Shen Yulong, the Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Department of Xidian University, presided over the conference. Yang Weidong, the Director of the Satellite Internet Research Institute of the Xidian Hangzhou Research Institute, served as the chairman of the sub-forum and delivered a keynote report.

During the conference, experts from home and abroad, including Professor Tarik Taleb from Ruhr University Bochum in Germany, Professor Pin-Han Ho from the University of Waterloo in Canada, Professor Anwar Haque from Western University in Canada, and Professor Su Zhou from Xi'an Jiaotong University, graced the venue. They delivered wonderful academic reports focusing on cutting-edge topics such as the technological development trends of satellite internet integrated non-terrestrial networks (NTN), the architecture, protocols, and algorithms of space-air-ground integrated networks (SAGINs), and the application prospects of satellite internet technologies.

In addition, in order to promote in-depth exchanges and cooperation within the sub-fields of satellite internet, the conference set up four sub-venues focusing on the architecture, security and assurance, communication, as well as services and applications of satellite internet. Scholars from 13 different countries shared their latest research achievements. After each report, the participants engaged in in-depth discussions centered around the content of the reports.

Through this conference, not only has the communication with outstanding experts, scholars, and leading enterprises in the field of satellite internet at home and abroad been enhanced, but also a platform has been built for a large number of students to get close to the forefront of science and technology. This is conducive to further promoting the integration of industry and education and cultivating future leading talents in the satellite internet industry.
